Recently, the China Tea Conference released the top 100 China Geographical Indication Agricultural Products (Tea) with the Highest Brand Reputation Value in 2022. Guzhang Maojian Tea ranked 43rd with a brand reputation value of 85.65.
Guzhang Maojian Tea looks round and straight, with emerald green leaves, and tastes mellow and refreshing. People select suitable tea tree varieties with tender buds and leaves, which will be finely processed through eight processes, such as spreading, blanching, kneading, and stir frying. The processing craftsmanship of Guzhan Maojian Tea was included in the intangible cultural heritage list of Hunan Province.
In 2022, the total area of tea planting in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture reached 200,000 mu (about 13,333 hectares), of which a total of 135,000 mu (9,000 hectare) of tea can be picked now. The total production of tea throughout last year amounted to 12,380 tons, with an output value of 1.617 billion yuan.
In recent years, it has persevered in cultivating the tea industry as a pillar industry that enriches the people, focusing on tea bases expanding, tea brands establishing, and tea marketing. Sustainable efforts have been done to improve the scientific technology, ensure the tea quality, and expand the tea market to promote rural revitalization, increase tea farmers’ income and achieve the high-quality development of the tea industry.
